Katie got her job!!!!

Katie is now working for the State Police Crime Lab and she loves it. It ended up being a full time position and will last at least 3 years. She also has to put in a mandatory 10 hours overtime every 2 weeks. Jindal put this overtime in place when he got in office. She says it is very interesting and has some interesting stories to tell.
She graduated in Criminology, but she may go back to LSU and complete her biology degree now. This will help her if another position becomes available in the lab.

We are so proud of her, we just don't see her much anymore!! :o(

Brandt won his 1st collegiate golf tournament

Last Sunday, September 13th the Meridian Golf team traveled to Cullman, Alabama for the 1st tournament of the fall season. They played a practice round Sunday and competition started Monday.

Monday they played two 18 hole rounds. Brandt shot 68 (4 under) in the first round, then shot 71 (1 under) in the second round. At the close of the day Monday, Meridian was in 3rd place as a team. Brandt didn't know where he stood and really didn't care. He said he was worried about the team standing not individual. Tuesday he shot a 66 (6 under). Meridian came back strong Tuesday, but it wasn't quite enough to move up. The team took 3rd place. Brandt won 1st place as a medalist.

I was getting live scoring texts from Coach Covich all Monday and Tuesday. Just want a momma needed, since it was one of the only matches I have missed. When I found out that he won, I was literally speechless the rest of the day Monday. I was so excited for him.

The funny thing is, the coach makes them qualify to participate on the "A" team (which is only fair) and he was nervous and worried he wasn't going to qualify to even go to this tournament and then he ends up winning 1st. An awesome start to his collegiate career.

Catching Up!!

I know, I'm way behind in updating. School has started, Brandt's in Meridian, Katie moved out, and Chad moved into Katie's old room (carport room).

School has been great so far and I have a good class again this year. We don't have honors this year in 3rd grade and we are self-contained, meaning I have the same kids all day. I love that!!! I get to know my students better, which allows me to meet their needs much better, and check on those that need it. I am so blessed and I love my job.

Katie moved in with a friend of hers out by LSU. She seems to like it. I don't see her much anymore. When I call, I sound just like my mother, "haven't heard from you in a while, just wanted to see how you're doing". Talk about reality check.
Exciting news though for Katie. The State Police called and they are hoping to have her job approved by the end of this week coming, so they can hire her in the crime lab. YAY!!!!! She is so excited!!!! Pray it is approved.

The Brandt-man got moved in at Meridian and school seems to be going well. Golf is doing well also. He had some adjusting to do, but seems to have gotten it now. This week the team competed with each other to earn a spot on the 'A' team for a tournament in Alabama, Monday and Tuesday. Brandt made the 'A' team. He will be competing in his first college tournament this Monday and Tuesday. It's so cool, but so different knowing I won't be there for it. I have been at 99.9% of his tournaments, but of course can't get off that many days, so I just have to wait by the phone. Ugh!!!!

Chad has moved into Katie's old room which is twice the size of his old room. He got a cable box with the sports package and is in heaven. Looking at buying himself a flatscreen TV. I told Danny, we'll never see him again once he gets that in his room...until he needs food. LOL!!!!!! He is still at the U Club, working all the time.

Daddy is doing well, staying busy. Looking at going back to Israel in November.

Summer's slipping by

Where has it gone? It seems like we just got out of school and I'm already back at school getting my room ready. We don't have to be back until Aug. 6th, but we will be in meetings most of that time, so a bunch of us teachers are up there working now. The cool thing is, we moved into the middle school building and middle school moved to our building. Our rooms are much bigger, we have a closet for storage, and we all have windows. Hopefully we won't have to do a lot of packing from year to year now. YAY!!!!!

Katie hasn't heard anything yet from the State Police. She is patiently waiting. Hopefully it will be soon.

Chad is still working at University Club. He and Danny are headed to Atlanta this weekend to get him fitted for golf clubs like Brandt did recently. He is so excited. He's been saving his money to buy new clubs once he is fitted. He's so funny. The other day he got home from work and handed me a $1.00. I looked at him and said "what's this for". He said, "You can have it, it's the only tip I got today." The only tip he made and he gave it to his momma!!!! :o)))) He's such a sweetheart. He was so busy washing carts and putting them back out, he didn't have time to go and pick people up in the parking lot to get tips.

Brandt has 2 more Jr. Golf tournaments left in his Jr. career. One this weekend and the last one next weekend. It will be bittersweet. He has gotten to know so many other Jr. golfers and it has been great playing against them, but there are so many college golfers yet to meet and compete against. His college coach will be here for the tournament this weekend. I hope he does well.

Meridian Community College - MCC

Brandt and I went up to Meridian this week to get his classes scheduled for the fall. He will be taking 17 hours, 2 of which are golf and conditioning, so really 15 "real" hours. We toured the campus all morning, had lunch, and then they separated the parents from the students. The parents listened to financial advice while the students scheduled their classes. Brandt had a little help though. The golf coach came in and helped him with choosing times and teachers.

It's going to be interesting with Brandt on his own. He's probably gonna be just fine though and his momma is going to learn that the world won't come to an end if things aren't done my way. The cool thing is...he is rooming with kids he knows from playing junior golf. One of them is a sophomore, so he knows the ins and outs of MCC.

I am still getting conformation that MCC is where the Lord wants Brandt right now. I pray that he continues to guide him in his golf and studies. We have been very blessed.

Katie's job update

Katie takes the polygraph Monday for the job with the State Police. How exciting!!! I know she will be nervous, but she'll do fine.

Her and Ryan are on their way back from Omaha. They drove the 17 hours to watch the Tigers win the College World Series. Thank goodness they won. I'd hate to know they drove all that way and the Tigers lost. I can't wait to hear about the trip. They're bringing us back t-shirts. This is the one trip where t-shirts are a good thing to get. LOL!!!!

Katie's Job Hunt

When Katie graduated last Dec. she thought she may want to go to law school. In the mean time, she has been looking for another job...one in her field of study, Criminology. We talked around and let people know what she was looking for and a few weeks ago she got a call from the State Police crime lab. She would only be working part-time to start off with, but it is what she is was looking for. Also, this is a way for her to find out what it's all about and then she can decide if this is really what she wants to do. If not, she can go on to law school. She's excited. She will have to take a polygraph test too. She is waiting to hear back and hopefully it will be soon. Please keep her in your prayers. I'll keep you posted.

Graduation Day

Graduation Day is just a few days away. Brandt will be graduating Monday night. It's so hard to believe that our last child is graduating from high school. I'll never forget when Katie brought home her high school graduation announcements and cap and gown. I couldn't believe I had a child that old. Now it's the baby of the family. Honestly, I'm not sad. I am looking forward to the next phase of life and the next level of golf. It will be different, but a good different.

Congratulations Brandt! We love you and can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for you in the future.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

Mother's Day...it's just not the same!

Mother's Day is just not the same without Momma here, so I've stayed busy grading papers, addressing graduation announcements and anything else to keep my mind off of the day. I surely didn't go to church. Too tough! Too many memories for me right now. Everyone in our family is busy today and I am truly glad. I don't have to pretend to be happy and enjoying the day. It will get easier over time, as many things have, but right now it's not easy.

I do sincerely wish a Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, but mostly to their children, enjoy every minute you have with your mother, even when she seems to drive you crazy. One day you WILL miss those days.

Back to Back LHSAA 3A Golf State Titles!

What a ride!!! The PBS golf team brought home another state title in golf this week. We played in Alexandria at Links on the Bayou this past Wednesday and Thursday.

After the first round we were in 1st by 21 strokes. The team shot 2 over par as a team. That was a new team low score. Brandt and a team mate, Chris Conroy, were tied for 2nd in the individuals. The leader at this point was a real sweet boy who was competing as an individual medalist. His team didn't make it to the state tournament. He had 2 eagles (2 shots better than par) from about 50 yards out in the first round. Beautiful shots!

The final round, Thursday, was exciting. We knew as long as we shot decent rounds, no one could touch us. Once we knew the title was secure, we started thinking about individual medalist. The last two groups were the top 8 golfers from the day before. These boys switched leading the tournament with each hole. I was a nervous wreck!!!! I was literally nauseated by the 18th hole. On the 16th hole we knew 1st place had come down to Brandt and Chris. It was crazy!!! All I did was pray for us not to have a playoff again. They tied for metro this year and had to play each other in a sudden death playoff, which Brandt won, but that was tough. They are teammates. I wanted Brandt to win because he's mine, but I didn't want Chris to lose either. Well as it turns out, we didn't have a sudden death against Chris, we had one against another player for 2nd place.

In the state tournament, ties for 2nd have to be played out, on the course. I was ready for this one though. When Brandt missed his putt on 18, which is how he tied this other player, the other players coach yelled "YES" and then clapped his hands. That sent me into orbit. This coach had no golf etiquette on the course anyway. He was on the phone the whole round, talking loud and then he was dipping, which is against LHSAA rules for coaches and players. Well, when he clapped and yelled at Brandt's missed putt, I was PO'd and that's putting it mildly...but I kept my mouth shut. My momma would have been proud. :o)

Playoff was crazy! Brandt's first drive went out of bounds and we thought it was over, but he sunk a boggy putt to tie the hole and move on. He was a little pumped! I think that coach contributed to that. When Brandt sunk the putt, he gave a huge fist pump and yelled "BOOM". Looked over towards the coach and said "the right person is going to win this". I know, that's not very sportsman like, but you know what, they played their hearts out all day, giving 150% through all 18 holes and to have a COACH do that to a kid, you can't blame him. As far as I'm concerned, GAME ON BABY!!!!! Well, Brandt won 2nd place on the next hole.

We are around a lot of golf and I have never seen anyone, parent or coach, do that to another player. In golf you want to beat someone on their good day, not because of their mistakes and you never want to see a kid struggle, yours or anyone elses. I'm still just floored by this coaches reaction.

I am so proud of the boys and so thankful that the Lord knew what he was doing when he sent us to Parkview. Hahaha!!! And it wasn't for baseball!!!! What a ride!!!!

We have one more high school tournament. The top 5 medalist in each division of LHSAA are invited to play in a prestigous golf tournament in Marksville at Tamakha Trails. Brandt and Chris will go play that Wednesday. I won't get to make that one because I've missed so much school for golf, but Danny will so we'll let you know how that goes.

Signing Day for Brandt

BubbleShare: Share photos - Play some Online Games.
Friday was Brandt's Signing Day for Meridian Community College. It was so awesome. What a special day for Brandt. For it not suppose to be a big deal, it was a big deal. When I called our Athletic Director to ask him if we could do it Friday, he said sure, get the coach (high school) to come say a few words and you can get some balloons and a cake. We do it in the gym at lunch, it's real simple. Little did I know how big this would be. It just meant so much to Brandt to have his class peers, teammates, teachers, and family there for support.

Coach Sean Covich from Meridian came down which made it even more special. He was the only college coach there. Brandt received a full golf scholarship.

A good friend of mine, Missy Kennedy, asked her husband Keith to come and take pictures. He does it professionally in his spare time, so we felt special with a photographer there, not just my little camera. My class had to come because of the time it took place. They had a blast. Brandt got the loudest applause because of them. They acted like he was a celebrity. When he first walked in the gym, as soon as they spotted him they started yelling his name and clapping for him. It was so sweet. They also had to have a picture of the class with him in the middle. Then Missy and Keith's daughter, Lindsay, cut the cake for us. She's such a sweetheart. Everyone helped make this day so special.

Yes! They spelled his name wrong on the cake. The funny thing is, everyone always spells his name wrong, especially in the paper. He has been Brant, Grant, Brad, Green, etc...there have been so many times that I can't remember them all. All we could do was laugh. Why change things now!!!!!!

We have prayed about this decision for a long time. There were many times that I really did not have a peace about which college the Lord was directing Brandt to, but I can honestly say, I am completely at peace with this decision and I know that this is where the Lord wants Brandt to be for now. We have sought his will and have been blessed many times over. I know he will continue to bless Brandt and use him for his glory.

Incredible Day!!!

As many of you know, last Monday, Daddy, Anne, Scott, and I traveled to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. There we met the first recipient of the Mary French Priscilla Scholarship.

This scholarship goes to the wife of a student preparing for ministry who desires to further her own education. She will also be mentored by the first lady of the seminary, Dr. Dorothy Patterson. There is no other scholarship like this one. As Daddy said, "A pastor's wife is called to complement her husband in ministry. As a helper, you have to be theologically sound and know your husband's craft. This scholarship will give the needed tools and training to best assist their husbands, just as Mary did for me."

The first recipient is Mrs. Rhonda Jones. She is the wife of Mr. Quincy Jones, who is a student in the College at Southwestern. She is the mother of five beautiful children and she home schools four of them. They moved to Dallas, from the Washington, D.C. area, to attend the seminary because of God's calling. Dr. Patterson asked Daddy to say a few words about Momma in chapel that morning and he spoke about when he was called into the ministry and when he talked to Momma about it. Her response to him was, I will follow you and support you wherever God leads us. Speaking to Quincy after chapel, he said that Rhonda's response to him was the same. She would follow and support him wherever God would lead them. That meant so much to me. A minister can not do the work of the Lord without the love and support of his wife.

We were able to visit with the Jones' for a little while, but I could have visited all day. Their plates are full and they need our prayers as they seek God's will in their lives. They also promised to stay in touch and let us know their specific prayer needs. We are now friends on Facebook. If you are on Facebook, look them up under my friends (Carol French Garon) and just send them a message. I'm sure they would love to know exactly who is praying for them and know that there are a lot of us out there lifting them up. They are an awesome family.

Oh yeah!! Momma wouldn't have wanted all this hooplah, she was strictly the behind the scenes wife, but like Daddy said..."she can't do anything about it now." I love you Momma and miss you soooo much!!!!

Off to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary!!!

Wow!! It's here already! It seems like yesterday that Daddy came to Anne and I to tell us that he wanted to start a scholarship in Mamma's name...and now, here we are traveling to Dallas/Ft. Worth to present to the 1st recipient.

Daddy and I leave tomorrow morning. Anne and Scott will fly in tomorrow night.

When we get there, we will have dinner with Dr. Dorothy Patterson at Pecan Manor, her residence. She came and spoke at Momma's funeral. Her husband is Dr. Paige Patterson, the President of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. They have been friends of our family for many years. Anyway, the scholarship will be presented in chapel Tuesday at the Seminary, then we will have lunch with the recipient.

Hopefully by Tuesday evening I will have pictures posted of our trip.

Meridian Jr. College here he comes!!!!

Brandt finally committed to playing golf for Meridian Jr. College, in Meridian, Mississippi. Meridian is the only Division I Jr. College in Louisiana and Mississippi. He can play there for a couple of years and then transfer to a University.

I am so relieved. I didn't realize how stressful choosing a school would be when a sport was involved. Now we can sit back and enjoy the remainder of his last season in high school and graduation. He'll have a signing day at Parkview, but we don't know when that will be yet. I'll keep you posted.

We are so proud of Brandt and his accomplishments and are so excited about being able to watch him play at the next level.

Oh yeah, his lift kit still isn't in!!!!

Time is Flying!!!

We have been so busy, it seems like time is just flying by.

Golf is going great!! Today PBS played in the LA Premier tournament at the Wetlands in Lafayette. We were the defending champs from last year, but came in tied for 4th today with a total score of 303. Yes we took 4th, but that was only 5 strokes from 1st place, 298. Great competition!!! Brandt made the All-Tournament team with a 72 - even par. The 5 boys that made this team shot 71's and 72's. There wasn't much room for error today. Go Eagles!!!!!!!

In 2 weeks, Daddy, Anne and her husband Scott, and I are going to Southwestern Theological Seminary to meet and award the 1st recipient of the Mary H. French Scholarship for pastors wives. We are so excited about this and can't to meet her.

As soon as I get back from Dallas, the next day I am flying out to Myrtle Beach, SC, to meet the PBS Golf team. We will be playing in a National High School tournament. We will see teams from all over the U.S. That means we're going to have to bring our "A" game and we can. Our boys have had a great season. If nothing else, it will be a great experience for them. What an awesome year for PBS Golf.

The next 3 weeks following Myrtle Beach will include the Metro Tournament, the Regional Tournament, then the State Tournament. State tournament is during Senior final exams. YIKES!!!!!!!! They come back to make up missed exams then the seniors are out...NO MORE HIGH SCHOOL!!! Just GRADUATION DAY!!!!!!

Wow! We won't have any more kids in High School...does that make us old???? :o) That's ok, that just means we're taking golf to the next level...College! No, he hasn't made a decision yet, but hopefully it will be soon. He's more interested in getting his lift kit in for his truck than deciding on a college. Go figure!!!!

Please keep us in your prayers!

Israel Group is having a blast

Daddy rode a camel!!!

I've been keeping up with the blog and texting Daddy and it sounds like the group is having a blast. I catch myself wanting to text when it is the middle of the night there though. I really have to be careful. I don't think Daddy would appreciate a text at 4:00 in the morning.

My 3rd graders have enjoyed it as well. They have learned so much about Israel this week, including that it still exist today. I had one of my student's ask me, "Isn't that where Jesus lived?", I said yes, he responded with, "you mean it's still there?" LOL!!!!
The bloggers have been great, answering questions that the students have posted.

With the blog, I feel like I've been on the trip with them. I think I've had as much fun as they have...just with American food!!!

Another successful weekend on golf course

PBS (Parkview Baptist School) Golf Team competed in the Beau Chene High School Kickoff Classic this weekend. We played at Beau Chene Golf Club in Mandeville, LA, against about 19 teams. Total golfers were 112.

After Saturday's round we were in 1st place by 3 strokes. It was so cool, during this round I looked up in the sky and above the golf course was a real bald eagle circling above us and of course we are the Parkview EAGLES!!!!! Beau Chene has 2 different courses, but it was flying over us. It gave me a peace about the tournament. It was like the Lord telling us, "you're going to do fine, I'm watching over you". How awesome was that!!!! The regular top scorers on the team didn't have a great day, but our 5th man pulled in a 75 for us. That was big for us. This was the first time he had beaten every team member. He was so pumped. Brandt shot 4 over, a 76. Definitely not his norm...but that's why we're a TEAM.

Sunday...to start with...it was daylight savings weekend. Need I say more... We had a shot-gun start at 8:30 that morning. Everyone did ok...could have been better. Brandt was on fire with every part of his game except putting. He missed 8 birdie putts. He could have been 9 under at the end of that round. In his defense...his putts were difficult. Every putt had a break to it. He was sticking pins, but that's a disadvantage because your putts are so close, you never get a true feel of the green. He still came in 1 under par, with a 71. Nothing to be ashamed of, he was just aggravated with himself.

The team shot a 611 for a 2 day total, beating Mandeville H.S. by 9 strokes. Brandt ended up in a tie for 2nd place, shooting 147 for the 2 days. Pretty darn good in my book!!! 9 of the top 10 Louisiana Jr. ranked golfers were in this tournament. It was some great golf!!!!

I want to say a huge THANK YOU to the many of you that follow, pull for, and pray for Brandt during this exciting time in his life. It can be quite lonely out there, when your game is as good as Brandt's and others view you as a threat. Please continue to lift him up in prayer, that he can remain strong and continue to seek the Lord in all he does.

Daddy's Israel Bound!!

Daddy left today for Israel. He has been wanting to go back for a long time and he is finally on his way. He had a group of 30 going with him. It's a great group of people. They are going to have a blast.

They're suppose to keep up a blog, so I will keep you posted. My classroom is going to follow them on the blog. It was so funny, when I told my students about it, one of them asked, "Wasn't that where Jesus lived?" I told him yes and he responded, "It still exist today?" :o) LOL!!! Too funny!!!

Busy week at The Garon's house

We've had a busy, but productive week at our house.

The roofers came Monday and started striping off the old roof while we were in Lafayette at the golf tournament. That meant that Danny had to hit the floor running Tuesday. He ended up replacing 15 sheets of plywood on the roof before the roofers could start with the new roof. They finished the roof Wednesday evening at about 5:00. I'm so glad the banging stopped.
We also had men here working in the yard, getting it cleaned up. That was a chore since we had so much material from our remodeling (that's not finished yet) :o(
While all of this was going on, some tree guys stopped by and asked if we wanted them to get some dead limbs out of our trees. Danny said sure...God sent these men...we have had Danny's old white truck sitting in the driveway for over a year and a Nova with no engine since we moved in here. The guys asked what we were going to do with the truck...Danny told them "you haul it you can have it". IT'S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they're coming back for the Nova!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do I need to say anything else????

Now for the inside...I got the computer room, laundry room, and my room cleaned. These rooms catch the clutter when you need to clean a room fast because company is coming over. Well, they are put back together for now. Everything in it's place. I don't expect this to last too long.

Last, but not least...I have washed clothes for 2 solid days. When I tell you the machines did not stop until after I had fallen asleep each night, I am not lying. I think we have too many clothes!!!!! NOT!!!

Busy, but productive. It feels soooooo good to have all of this finished. Now I can go back to work next week with a little less stress.

PBS Golf dominates!

Parkview's golf team played in the Teurlings Catholic Mardi Gras Classic at Acadian Hills Country Club in Lafayette yesterday. They won by 24 strokes and Brandt took 1st place overall. The boys each got plaques and will receive golf wind shirts. Brandt got a plaque and a new putter. When you play as a team, 5 players play and they take the top 4 scores. The exciting thing was we threw out a 75 (par was 71). All of our boys performed. We had a 72, 3-74's, and 1-75. This is not the norm in High School.
CONGRATULATIONS EAGLES!!!!

Winter Break has begun!

Yes! PBS is off a week for Winter Break. It will be busy, but a good busy.

Got a little golf going on. Monday the PBS Golf team will be in the Teurlings Golf Tournament in Lafayette, so we will go down Sunday, play a practice round and spend the night. Then Thursday they have a match at Pelican Point, in Gonzales.

Tuesday I am having lunch friends. Faith McNabb is a friend that I grew up with, her mom was Daddy's secretary for years. She and her husband are missionaries to China and she will be going back Thursday, so some of us are getting together for lunch before she goes back. I can't wait.

We are getting a new roof on the house this week too. We had hail damage, but had not gotten the roof replaced, then came Gustav. So now, months later, we are finally replacing the roof. I won't get to sleep late that day :(

Other than that, I will be cleaning house. It's a wreck! We only need about 1000 more square feet, so I'm going to try to clean out closets and cabinets. We'll see!! I have great intentions...

Great Weekend!

We had a busy, but great weekend!

Brandt was in the Beaver Creek Junior Classic. He shot well, but just not good enough to win. He took 3rd place. He went into
Sunday with a 71, 2 strokes behind the leader, but just couldn't get it together to make the move needed to win. He has nothing to be ashamed of though. His bad day on the golf course was still only 2 over par, making him 1 over for the weekend. It just wasn't his weekend. Tomorrow's another day! :=)

Then, our niece, Marisa Landry, got married Saturday. Marisa is Danny's sister's oldest daughter. For those of you that don't know, Peggy (Danny's sister) passed away about 7 years ago from brain cancer. She was not only my sister-in-law, she was one of my best friends. It was a beautiful wedding and Marisa found a great man. I know Peggy would have loved him.

My house is a wreck, didn't cook all weekend, clothes need washing, papers need grading, lesson plans need to be written...weekend with family...GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!!

Check out the golf cart. I call this "Mom's Paradise". Talk about staying warm.

Ok! I take it back!!!

My, oh, so humble, son is making me eat my words.

The last day of signing for High School football player was the other day and of course we had news/sports people on campus to film the signings of a few PBS players. One of the them was walking just in front of Brandt and a friend and she turned around to ask where the gym was. Of course, Brandt tells her, "I'm Brandt." She said, no your not, I know who Brant is (football player who was signing that day), he said, "no I'm Brandt Garon, the golfer...google me... I'll be there." Then he just walked off.

Danny made over...it's scary!

Trying Something New

As many of you know, I don't cook much. Matter of fact, I spend more time trying to figure out a reason not to cook than if I would just get up and go do it. When we were building our house on S. Harrell's Ferry Rd., we were out there working one Sunday afternoon and a couple stopped by to look. After they looked around we began talking to them and the lady said, "I don't want to be too nosey, but I noticed your countertops were in but, you didn't have a stove". Well that's all Danny needed to hear, he told her, "My wife doesn't really cook, so we decided to save money and not put one in this house." That's my Danny!

Anyway, I have cooked all day today and I'm going to put it in the freezer so all I have to do is pull it out and heat it up. New concept for me, but I'm willing to try anything...well, just about anything once.

This is going to be a crazy week and I got tired just thinking about what the evenings were going to be like, so I knew I wasn't going to want to cook. Metro golf (school) starts and they play Tuesday and Wednesday, papers to grade, grades have to be in for progress reports, practice round Friday, AJGT at Beaver Creek, Sat. and Sun, Marisa & Jason's wedding Sat. afternoon, then I do have to teach some this week.

Well, we're gonna try it. If it bombs, they can't say I didn't try.

Ranked 4th in Louisiana Jr. Golf

Yes, and his mom and dad had no idea. We had to be told by a dad at the golf course yesterday.

Brandt is ranked 4th in Louisiana Junior Golf out of 113 golfers. He is 692 in the United States out of 5834. I am speechless! We knew he was good, but we have never wanted to be "those parents"... you know the ones that brag about how good their kids are but they really aren't. I would always remind myself of what Lee would tell the parents at the beginning of each volleyball season, "Your daughter is not and will never be as good as you think she is". So I would tell myself, he's not as good as YOU think he is. Your his MOM!!!! I know, it's crazy.

The funny thing about all of this, he acts like it's no big deal. He's so humble! I just pray he stays that way.

God is good and we thank him each day for his many blessings. If you remember, we've been told twice in his lifetime that he would not make it through the night. The first being the day he was born. He was 5 weeks early and had lung problems. I remember Dr. Hill coming in and saying, "Carol, I just wish he were a girl, they fight so much harder than boys". The second, after he was hit in the head with a softball at one of Danny's games. He was 7 years old. The nurse kept coming in telling us, "the doctor said it doesn't look good". Later we found out the doctors had given him about a 10 % chance of making it that night. After 16 hours on a ventilator, he woke up like nothing had ever happened.

Our prayer is that God will use him and his talent to glorify the Lord.

19 and counting!

Yep! I have all of 19 friends on facebook right now. I feel so loved!!! :) Since facebook is really suppose to be for the "younger" crowd, I did set my limits. If I see someone I know on that is of my generation or close to it, I will request friendship, but if they are around my kids ages, they will have to request from me. Anyway, I have found a few people that I haven't talked to in years. It's really been great! I look forward to finding others.

My new hook...Facebook!!

Yes, I've gone and joined Facebook. I haven't told Danny yet. He thinks I'm on the computer too much already...so...MUMS THE WORD... LOL!!! :) Like he cares!!!!!! So, if you belong, you can be my friend, if you want to.

Think about it (those of you my age)...our lives were quite boring compared to today, but, we sure thought it was exciting!!!! I guess it was compared to our parent's youth. My, my, how times change.

Have a great week!!!!!

TGIF!

Wow! I am so glad it's Friday. For only having school 4 days this week, it sure has been a looooong week. Nothing major happened, so I don't know why it seemed so long. Maybe because I actually had some time and I wasn't meeting myself coming and going.

Oh well! That will end soon. This is my last free weekend (sleeping late on Sat.) before golf starts up again, then we'll be doing double time. Between Arrowhead and school golf, we're fixing to roll! I just hope Brandt doesn't burn himself out. And as for the cold weather...bring it on. We bought a cover for the golf cart so we don't freeze anymore. I hear there is a heater available too. We just might need to invest :) I feel a little guilty though, knowing Brandt is out there freezing. I'm sure that feeling won't last long.

The article about Brandt in the paper Tee to Green will be coming out sometime in Feb. If they post it on the website I'll attach a link, but if not, I'll try to scan it for those interested.

A Year Ago Today!

A year ago today, my precious mother went to be with the Lord. While I remember every minute of that day and how difficult this year has been without her, the Lord made me realize how blessed we were to have those precious last days with her. We had time to talk. We had time to say "I love you". We had time to say "thank you". There are no regrets. No, "I wish I would have done...", I wish I could have told her...". Nothing was left unsaid. For this, I am grateful.

Overwhelmed with Memories

Memories have been flooding back. These next 2 weeks will be a lot of "a year ago today". A year ago today, Anne and I began our 24 hour a day vigilance next to Momma's bedside.

A year ago today, I was called home from school because Momma had taken a turn for the worst. This was the day she talked to each of us and told us how much she loved us along with many more special things. She also shared with us her glimpses of Heaven. God allowed her to see parts of heaven before he took her home. He let her see her 2 babies that she lost. One she miscarried at about 3 months gestation and Steven, my little brother, who passed away just hours after birth. She was so excited to see those babies.

I thank God for that special day and will never forget it. We were blessed to have that time with her. Many never get that time. Although it was difficult to see her go down so fast, I will forever cherish it.

I love you Momma and miss you so so so much!
